NOVEMBER 2024 GENERAL ELECTION INFORMATION


BY LAW, YELLOWSTONE COUNTY WILL NOT RELEASE ANY 2024 GENERAL ELECTION BALLOTS UNTIL THE LAST VOTER IN LINE AT ALL COUNTY POLLING PLACES HAS VOTED

Absentee ballots were mailed to voters on the absentee list on October 11, 2024. If you are unsure if you are an absentee voter or a polling place voter, you may check your voter status voterportal.mt.gov

Voters may view the status of their registration, the status of any absentee ballots if they are an absentee voter, the location of their polling place if they are a polling place voter, and sample ballots at voterportal.mt.gov

Voters may drop off ballots at the Yellowstone County Courthouse during regular business hours, excluding weekends and holidays. Yellowstone County has a drive-through ballot dropoff box available during regular business hours M-F at the County Courthouse on 3rd Avenue. The place for the Drive-Through will be marked with signs and will be manned by credentialed election judges. On Election Day (only), voters may drop off absentee ballots at any Yellowstone County polling place. Polling place voters must appear at their polling place and polling places have changed as a result of redistricting. Polling place voters should confirm the location of their polling place at voterportal.mt.gov

General Information


The Election Department administers the maintenance of the voter registration files, candidate filings and all aspects of the election process. Additionally, information is available concerning upcoming election dates, polling places and the results of current elections. Of primary emphasis and concern is making voter registration and the process of voting as simple and accessible as possible.

Voter registration cards will be mailed out if requested, can be downloaded from this site or completed in the office. Cards are also available in the telephone book, Montana tax booklets and state agencies. Absentee ballot requests can also be mailed out upon request or downloaded and upon our receipt of this signed document a ballot will be mailed to the elector.
