The first Yellowstone County Clerk & Recorder took office on February 2, 1883. Currently the office records an average of about 200 documents per day.
On Tuesday, August 1, 2023, the Yellowstone County Treasurer will attach a property tax lien to real property on which the 2022 taxes are delinquent, as well as 2018, 2019, 2020, & 2021 taxes billed September 9, 2022 that are delinquent. The delinquent taxes, including penalties, interest and costs, are a lien upon the property and unless the delinquent taxes, penalties, interest and costs are paid prior to August 1, 2023, a tax lien will be attached and may be assigned to a third party. At that time, a list of each property on which the taxes are delinquent will be on file in the office of the Yellowstone County Treasurer and open to inspection.
