The Ted Lechner Youth Services Center programs work with youth, families and the community providing opportunities for a successful independent lifestyle.
An incarcerated youth will be assigned a Juvenile Probation Officer after an arrest. The youth will go before the Youth Court Judge the next business day for a detention hearing. You will need to contact Court Services in your county for more information. Yellowstone County Youth Court Services phone number is 406-256-2838.
Youth Services Center will not release any information regarding youths housed in the facility.
All visitors must be approved by the referral agency (DFS/CPS, Juvenile Court Services or Montana Department of Corrections). Approved visits for detention are on Wednesdays and Sundays from 2:00 – 4:20 pm. Approved shelter care visits are by appointment only. Call 406-256-6825 to reserve a visit time.
No, youth can make calls to approved visitors. These calls are monitored by staff.
Yes. The video visitation is managed by a third party, NCIC. Contact YSC at (406) 256-6825 for more information.
Detention residents are offered educational and recreational (both physical and passive opportunities) daily. Religious and cultural education opportunities are available on a weekly basis. Addiction counseling and education are also provided.
Shelter care residents participate in regular in-house educational programming if not attending school in the community. Recreational opportunities are available to include a weekly archery class, educational outings, nature hikes, physical fitness and passive activities. Youth also participate in various life skills activities.
Youth Services Center contracts with a medical provider who visits each weekday.
No, YSC only takes youths referred by Montana Department of Family Services/Child Protective Services, Juvenile Court Services and the Montana Department of Corrections.
